Open the Book

Open the Book is a national initiative run by the Bible Society to bring bible stories into primary school, using specially produced scripts. It is loved by teachers and children alike!

We are setting up an Open the Book team in Whaley Bridge jointly with our ecumenical partners and would welcome more people to be involved. If you are available during the day and would like to join the team as a storyteller you would need to undertake online training and safeguarding checks. Other ways you could support the team is by creating costumes, props, or by giving them prayer support.

Our Open the Book team leaders are Jeanette Nicholls and Revd Lynne Bowden and you could ring one of them to find out more: Jeanette on 07941 422086, Revd Lynne 01663 732097. The next planning meeting for Open the Book is Thursday 15th April via Zoom.

Good Friday Service - Churches Together

At 5 pm, there is a Churches Together Open Air Service along with Chinley with Buxworth and Chapel CT groups. This will be at Chinley Chapel on the field (not on Eccles Pike this year). If you wish to walk across please make your own arrangements with a companion - we can't organize a joint walk this year due to the Coronavirus restrictions.

On Maundy Thursday 1st April, at 7.30pm Rev Keith and the High Peak Partnership are leading The Service of Shadows, The Tenebrae, which is one of the oldest dramatic liturgies in the Christian Church.
